About Ruislip Manor station
Trains were passing through on the Metropolitan Railway’s Harrow and Uxbridge line from 4 July 1904, but Ruislip Manor only appeared on 5 August 1912, as Ruislip Manor Halt, one of several stops added along the branch to encourage new housing in west Middlesex. District trains already ran this way after 1910; on 23 October 1933 Piccadilly line trains replaced them, and the stop is now shared by the Metropolitan line and Piccadilly line.
The housing did arrive. Passenger numbers grew from 17,000 in 1931 to 1.25 million in 1937, and a rebuilt station opened on 26 June 1938 to cope. The line crosses Victoria Road on a bridge, and the station has two curved entrances, with stairways up to the platforms. A major overhaul in 2005–2006 rebuilt both platforms one after the other, so for about four months trains did not stop at each platform in turn; the work was completed in autumn 2006.
