Earliest first departure and latest last departure anywhere on the line. Trains near the ends of a line start earlier or later than in central London; each station page gives the times for that station, line and direction. “Trains/hour” is the highest number of departures in one hour at a single station in one direction on a weekday.

How the tube day works

In central London the tube runs from about 05:15 to just after midnight from Monday to Thursday. On those nights the last trains leave central London around 00:30; if you are changing lines late, the last connection can go before the last train of the line you are on, so leave a margin.

On Friday and Saturday nights five lines carry on through the night as the Night Tube: the Central, Jubilee, Northern, Piccadilly and Victoria lines. That is why the table shows “all night” for those lines on Friday, 24 hours on Saturday and an “all night” start on Sunday morning. The other six lines close as usual.

Sunday services start later, generally after 07:00, and Saturday follows TfL’s “Saturday and public holiday” timetable. The Waterloo & City line is the exception to everything: it is a commuter shuttle between Waterloo and Bank and does not run at weekends.
