Trains passed this spot for half a century before any stopped. The line opened on 13 June 1864, but Goldhawk Road only got a station on 1 April 1914, when the old Shepherd’s Bush station, which stood between Uxbridge Road and Goldhawk Road, was moved to a new site on the north side of Uxbridge Road; that station is now Shepherd’s Bush Market. Goldhawk Road opened the same day to serve the southern end of the area. The station keeps a ticket office.
