Northwick Park opened on 28 June 1923 and spent its first decade as Northwick Park & Kenton, a name it used until 1933. It is named after the neighbouring public park, and it sits on the stretch of the Metropolitan line where only ‘all stations’ trains call: northbound fast and semi-fast services run through between Wembley Park and Harrow-on-the-Hill without stopping. The journey from Baker Street takes about 20 minutes on average.

The island platform holds an unusual survivor: one of the few remaining K8 telephone kiosks, now used for the TfL internal system and listed at Grade II. The station also has an official out-of-station interchange with Kenton, on the Bakerloo line and the Overground’s Lioness line, which is within walking distance. Northwick Park is the place to change between trains on the Uxbridge branch and trains towards Pinner, and at peak times a further change at Harrow-on-the-Hill may be needed for Amersham and Chesham.
