The Metropolitan Railway opened Dollis Hill on 1 October 1909. Its art deco platform buildings followed in 1938, designed by Stanley Heaps, and from 20 November 1939 it belonged to the Bakerloo line’s Stanmore branch before being transferred to the Jubilee line in 1979. Metropolitan line trains still pass through without stopping.

Two exits, north to Chapter Road and south to Burnley Road, are joined by a subway, and that is where the station’s most distinctive feature is found: four sets of enamel panels by Amanda Duncan, installed in 1995, showing maps of the Dollis Hill area from the 16th to the 20th century set against interpretations of classical star maps. A 2007 refurbishment added new lighting, tiling and security cameras.
