About Kilburn Park station
Kilburn Park had a brief spell as the end of the line: it opened on 31 January 1915 as the temporary terminus of the Bakerloo extension from Paddington, until trains carried on to Queen’s Park on 11 February 1915. Because Maida Vale was not yet finished, the previous stop was Warwick Avenue until 6 June 1915.
Stanley Heaps designed the Grade II listed building as a variation on Leslie Green’s earlier Bakerloo stations, with a glazed terracotta façade but without the large semicircular first-floor windows. It was also one of the first Underground stations planned from the outset to use escalators instead of lifts.

The Grade II listed building was designed by Stanley Heaps, adapting Leslie Green’s terracotta Bakerloo style but leaving out the big semicircular first-floor windows. Kilburn Park was also one of the first Underground stations built specifically to use escalators rather than lifts.
